FROM THE NORTHEAST: Motorway A1 Bologna-Florence-Pisa-Livorno Rosignano exit. Continue along S.S. Aurelia until Venturina-Isola D’elba and from there to Piombino Marittima
Alternative Route: Take SGC Florence-Pisa-Livorno: exit at Florence Signa and continue on s.s.. until Collesalvetti. Back on the highway to Rosignano Marittimo and take the road to Venturina, Piombino Marittima.
FROM THE SOUTH: Motorway A12 until Rome-Grosseto S.S. Aureli, take the exit at Venturina-Isola d ‘Elba, continue until Piombino Marittima.
The island of Elba can be reached from Piombino ferry station, where numerous ferry lines leave for the island several times a day (Toremar. Elba ferries, Moby lines, Blu Navy)
It takes less than one hour to cover the 10 km distance which separates the island from the mainland, and you can reach the ports of Portoferraio, Cavo or Rio Marina.
In less than 15 minutes by car, you can reach Capoliveri from Portoferraio. When leaving the ferry station, follow the sign “Tutte le direzioni” (all directions), then “Porto Azzurro”, “Capoliveri”. Turn right and follow the instructions for Capoliveri (well signposted). Follow the signs for “Morcone” and “Pareti” in Capoliveri.

By train, Elba is accessible via the station of Piombino Marittima in front of the port. You can reach the railway station of Campiglia Marittima through the Genoa-Rome or Reggio Calabria – Florence lines, then you must travel 14 km to the port of Piombino.

The route Piombino-Portoferraio is operated by various companies: Toremar, Moby lines, Blu Navy, and Elba ferries which offer connections every 30 minutes during the summer season. The journey takes between 30 minutes and an hour.
